Educating Louisiana Residents About Preparedness
Disaster is a certainty. LDRF is committed to lessening the impact of the inevitable by cultivating a culture of preparedness in which all residents have the knowledge and resources they need to respond to the challenges of disaster. Your gift to the My Heart, My Home initiative enables LDRF to promote human dignity in the wake of disaster by ensuring that citizens are prepared and LDRF is ready to provide immediate relief to impacted communties.
Preparedness includes working for social justice. One of the most important lessons LDRF has learned in the course of our recovery work is that investing in sustainable social change is critical to mitigating the impact of disaster. Your gift to My Heart, My Home enables LDRF to invest in long-term preparedness solutions. When Louisiana communities are strengthened by equitable economic development; access to safe, affordable housing; and the ability to participate in decision-making, we are empowered to prepare for and respond to disaster most effectively - with the added benefit that overall quality of life in Louisiana is improved.

Louisiana, My Heart, My Home seeks to unite Louisianians - those who live in-state and those who may have moved away - around the idea lifting up our most vulnerable communities and investing in long-term solutions for the greater good improves quality of life for all Louisiana residents.

My Heart, My Home asks Louisiana residents to embrace a philanthropic vision that acknowledges the critical need to empower all citizens with the tools necessary to be self-sustaining, determine the course of their own future, and create and implement long-term solutions.
