LDRF's PHILANTHROPY SERVICES: TYPES OF FUNDS
The Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation provides flexibility by offering a variety of fund options to assist donors in realizing their intended philanthropic purpose. LDRF will gladly work with you to create any of the types of funds listed below.
Unrestricted Fund: An unrestricted fund can address a broad range of needs, spanning LDRF's programmatic reach, including future needs that may be unknown at the time of your gift. The flexibility of an unrestricted gift enables LDRF to remain prepared to respond to Louisiana's evolving recovery and renewal needs as swiftly and effectively as possible.
Field of Interest Funds: By establishing a field of interest fund, donors may target their gift to philanthropic work that fits their personal values and interests. LDRF's board and staff will award grants from the fund to organizations positively impacting the area or issue you select.
Designated Funds: LDRF has excellent working relations with hudreds of mission-critical non-profit organizations. Establishing a designated fund allows you to support a particular non-profit organization whose mission and work coincides with your own philanthropic values. By creating the fund through LDRF, your gift provides both funding and administrative support for your chosen organization.
Nonprofit organizations may also establish designated funds with LDRF as an effective wasy to build an endowment. LDRF's development staff can assist nonprofits in creating and managing giving programs and investment strategies that will move them toward sustainability.
Donor-Advised Funds: Establishing a donor-advised fund at LDRF allows you to remain actively involved in the use of your gift. There are usually several tax advantages to making charitable contributions through a donor advised fund, including a current income tax deduction for the current market value of the assets given. In addition, earnings on assets you have contributed to a donor advised funds are not subject to income tax.
