Julio is an experienced administrator with years of experience in the area of nonprofit management. Throughout his career, he has earned experience in fiscal management, long range and programmatic planning, fund development, marketing, public relations and board development. He has utilized computer technology and has managed information systems. Julio attended the University of New Orleans where he graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1985. In 1987, Julio received his Master?s degree in Education from Loyola University. In 1995, he attended Case Western Rice University?s Executive Program in Resource Development. Julio began his work with children as residential counselor and supervisor, and later, administrator of Bethlehem Children?s Treatment Center. Bethlehem is a residential treatment center for children and adolescents who have been physically and sexually abused. In 1989, Julio was invited to become a member of the Senior Management Team of Covenant House New Orleans. Covenant House is known to be one of the largest shelters for homeless and runaway youth in North and Central America. At Covenant House, Julio was responsible for the development, management, implementation and evaluation of programs and services. In 1997, Julio became the Associate Executive Director for Administration at Kingsley House, a community based social service agency serving children, youth, adults, and families. As Associate Director, Julio was responsible for fund development, marketing, public relations, human resource management and training, and facility operations. Since 1995, Julio?s personal agency, GalMar Consulting, has provided professional consultation, training and development opportunities in the area of administration, staff development, fund development and public relations to nonprofit agencies. Julio is completely bilingual, English ? Spanish. In 1997, Julio was named Executive Director of Family and Youth Counseling Agency in Lake Charles. He is fully responsible for the operation of a counseling and family service agency. He has served on many governing boards for state and regional organizations including: Louisiana Association for Nonprofit Organizations (LANO), Micro Enterprise Development Alliance of Louisiana (MEDAL), Louisiana Alliance for Children and Families, YouWho Coalition, Crime Stoppers, and Race Relations Task Force. |
