Kit Conroy

Kit Conroy is a nationally-recognized nonprofit executive whose career has included leadership roles at several renowned organizations.  After 25 years in New York City, Kit has returned to Louisiana to assist in the renaissance of the state.

Her most recent position in New York City was that of Chief Financial Officer at the New York Community Trust, where she formulated financial policy for the Trust, managed all financial and accounting operations, developed financial reporting procedures, served as acting CFO for the Trust’s September 11th Fund, and served on national committees to advise the field and promote community foundations.   She was also responsible for creating a diversity initiative for the Trust. 

Prior to her tenure at the New York Community Trust, Kit was Assistant Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis and eventually Vice President and Controller for Creditanstalt, also in New York, New York.  In this position, Kathryn managed accounting activities for the bank’s North American operations, improved reporting practices, analyzed expenses and made recommendations for cost savings. 

Kit worked as Senior Oil Operations Specialist and later, as Senior Financial Analyst for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, New York, where she developed reporting procedures that determined organizational restructuring and cost reductions.  She also assisted traders in pricing TBF contracts and corresponded with counterparts to ensure maximum profitability and compliance, as well as recruited and evaluated productive personnel teams to report P&L and risk of loss of international equity and foreign government bond trading.

At Delta Steamship Lines, Inc. in Teaneck, New Jersey, Kit worked as the Manager of Financial Systems Development, Accounting Manager, and finally, Assistant Controller.  At Delta Steamship, Kit reorganized accounting functions, motivated staff, restructured departments, designed training programs and deployed extraordinary measures to preserve productivity and morale during numerous crises.  

Kit began her career with Arthur Anderson & Co. in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

Kit is a graduate of Emory University where she earned a B.A. in accounting.  She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Louisiana, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, member of the Louisiana State Society of Certified Public Accountants as well as the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.   

Kit’s extensive service endeavors include serving as a trustee of the Louise S. Mcgehee School, serving on the advisory board of Cathedral Academy, chairing the board of Interfaith Neighbors in New York City, serving as treasurer of the New York Regional Association of Grantmakers, membership in the Community Foundations Leadership Team, and serving on the Foundation Expenses and Compensation Study Advisory Committee.  Kit is founder and past chair of the Accounting Practices Committee for Community Foundations and has also served on the AICPA Non-Profits Committee, the NYSSCPA Non-Profits Committee and the IRS Exempt Organizations Liaison Group.
