Small Business Development

small business developmentMany of those affected by the hurricanes were left not only displaced from their homes, but also unemployed. As of June 2008, LDRF grants have assisted 1580 small businesses throughout the Gulf South – many of which are women and minority-owned – to reopen their doors and work toward sustainability. LDRF works closely with a collaborative group of nonprofits committed to getting small businesses back to business – generating jobs and a stronger economy for everyone.

LDRF's Small Development Fund also supports a green-building initiative which includes an Eco Park -- a supply and resource center for builders, manufacturers, distributors and retailers committed to sustainable development that will hasten the greening of the South and support living-wage "green collar" jobs.
