A native of Abbeville, Matt has resided in Baton Rouge since 1991.  The last five years he worked as Business and Accounting Manager for DeFrances Academy of Dance, a highly regarded area school which is one of the largest and oldest in the South.  Previously, he worked in the nonprofit sector for ten years with the Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association.  As the Director of Accounting and Technology, he served on various National Accounting committees and panels.  Matt’s main area of expertise is accounting and financial matters with an emphasis also in computer and personnel management.  During his career, Matt has dealt with regulatory issues as they apply to nonprofit organizations.  
He received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as the outstanding graduate in his college and a Masters in Accounting from Louisiana State University. 
Matt is married to Gwyn Singleton Nunez, a highly successful dance instructor with over twenty-five years experience.  He is also an active member of the Methodist Church.
